Pilates Helped Me Heal My Body

I discovered Pilates after knee surgery in 1989, and I learned firsthand how beneficial it is for healing an injury. As a gymnast and dancer, it became an invaluable part of my training and continued rehabilitation. I went on to receive my Teaching Certification and began teaching in 1995.

Pilates has grown from a little-known niche into a worldwide phenomenon with many branches at its heart, it’s a transformative movement practice that- applies wisely- can help not just dancers and athletes, but everybody, including you.

Maybe you’ve researched Pilates and seen impossibly fit-looking people doing intimidating moves. Those people do exist, but that only scratches the surface of the benefits you can feel with Pilates.

It’s also not just for your core! The real “magic” of Pilates comes from the practice of moving the body and shifting the mind into that flow state where breath, movement and mental focus all come together.

I love it when someone comes to me that is body aware.  So much of what people are taught about exercise does not include tuning into what’s going on in their own body as they move.  Learning the capabilities of your own body and being able to use that awareness during exercise not only makes your workouts more effective, it also helps prevent injury.  

With your body-aware feedback, I am able to adjust our work on the fly, helping you get the most out of your session. We put our heads together to leverage the cumulative intelligence of your life experience alongside my years of Pilates experience, creating optimal workouts for your body.
